Jewelry Cleaning And Inspection Phoenix
Learn about Jewelry Cleaning & Inspection
Of everything on our bench, this is the service that saves people the most money — and the one almost nobody books until something has already gone wrong.
A cleaning and inspection is two things happening together. The cleaning removes the film of soap, lotion, sunscreen and skin oil that builds up underneath a stone and quietly kills its brightness. The inspection is the part that matters: time under magnification checking every prong, bezel, solder joint and clasp for wear, while the piece is already off your hand.
Why the inspection is the point
Stones are almost never lost without warning. Prongs wear thin over months. Bezels loosen gradually. Chains fatigue at a predictable point. Every one of those is visible under a loupe long before it fails — and every one is a small, inexpensive fix at that stage. Caught late, the same problem is a lost diamond and an insurance claim.
Annual inspection is also a condition of many insurance policies covering fine jewelry. Worth checking yours.
What we do
- Ultrasonic and steam cleaning where the piece and its stones can safely take it
- Hand cleaning for pearls, opals, emeralds and other porous, treated or fragile stones that ultrasonic would damage
- Full inspection under magnification of prongs, tips, bezels, channels and solder joints
- Clasp, catch and hinge checks on chains, bracelets and brooches
- A clear account of anything that needs attention now, and anything worth watching
Why not just clean it at home
Home cleaning is fine and we would encourage it — warm water, a drop of dish soap, a soft toothbrush. What it cannot do is reach properly under a set stone, and what it definitely cannot do is tell you that two prongs on your center stone are at half their original thickness. The cleaning is the excuse. The inspection is the service.
One caution: skip the ultrasonic machines sold for home use unless you know exactly what your stones are. They are genuinely effective, which is the problem — on an emerald, an opal, a pearl or anything fracture-filled, effective means damaging.
Come in once a year
If you wear a ring daily, once a year is a sensible rhythm. It takes very little time, and it is the difference between retipping a prong and replacing a stone. Book an appointment and bring it by.
